Hello! I am an illustrator who lives and works in Kingston, Ontario. I enjoy drawing people, plants and animals, making maps and hand lettering. My background in animation and my love for dance influence my drawings. Other interests that influence my work are vintage fashion illustrations, cabinets of curiosities, food and travel.
When I am not drawing, I am a teaching artist in the public schools in the Kingston area. The Ontario Arts Council has a Human Rights, Equity & Inclusive Education grant that funds my workshops. The students I work with are struggling in school for a variety of reasons, learning disabilities, bullying, anxiety, etc.. Most read below grade level. This is a great opportunity for me to research picture books for all ages. I use art and visual communication to help students create personal advocacy statements that they can use to tell their teachers and others about their IEPs. I also have a background in museum education (Coordinator of Family Programs at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore) This was another great opportunity to indulge my love of kids’ art and books for children.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with some wonderful clients, many of whom have become friends over the years! Here is a partial list:
Baltimore City Recreation & Parks
The Baltimore Sun
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Harcourt School Publishers
Johns Hopkins University
Walden University Alumni Magazine
The Walters Art Museum
