My sketchbooks are my diary. In them I sketch from observation, make my lists,  and draw maps of events and feelings.  Above is a composite of a sketch and a map of  the afternoon that I spent sketching at The Walters Art Museum. The blue loops represent the physical path I took through the gallery and the dots are people I spoke to along the way. Notice the very cute family of six in the lower right. They were first time visitors to Baltimore and were having a wonderful time. The little ones had lots of questions about what I was doing. The Portrait of the Marchioness Angela Maria Lombardi will be forever linked in my memory with the very lively conversation I had that day.

  1. What an amazing diary! I love the way you captured memories of your day in your sketch. (And on a totally random note: The family of six on your map reminded me a little of arabic script. So lovely.)

  2. This is beautiful, Peggy! The map is such a great idea, too. I would love to see more of your sketchbook if this is what you keep in it! B.

  3. Good blog! I really love how it is simple on my eyes and the data are well written. I am wondering how I could be notified whenever a new post has been made. I’ve subscribed to your RSS feed which must do the trick! Have a great day!
